SUNGLASS HUT

Sunglass Hut had been utilizing a shopping tray in their stores when they approached us with a request to upgrade the current one. With durability being the biggest issue, the current trays were costly to make due to the high usage in the stores. The project became an exercise in determining the best method of fabrication to produce a sleek, high end, durable shopping tray to assist consumers in choosing their sunglasses. It was important that this tray engaged the senses— it needed to feel substantial, the finishes had to be flawless, and the eyewear placed onto the tray needed a soft landing. The end result was simple and elegant, but the process was complex. Different materials and processes used were felt with die cutting and lamination, injection molding, polyurethane molding, and painting.
